Frequently Asked Questions
Purpose:
PSG: To help SMEs adopt pre-approved, off-the-shelf tech/tools
EDG: To support customised projects that help businesses transform or expand
Scope:
PSG: Simple IT solutions (e.g. accounting, POS, HR), basic equipment
EDG: Strategy development, business transformation, innovation, overseas expansion
Customisation Allowed:
PSG: No. Solutions must be from the pre-approved list
EDG: Yes. Projects are often tailored to the company’s specific needs
Vendors:
PSG: Must choose from pre-approved vendor list
EDG: Company can propose its own consultant/vendor (must meet qualifications)
Funding Support:
PSG: Up to 50% of cost (typically capped, depending on solution)
EDG: Up to 50% (or more for strategic projects under SFEC or industry push)
Application Simplicity:
PSG: Relatively straightforward – fast, standardised
EDG: More complex – requires business plans, projections, documentation
Best for:
PSG: SMEs wanting to quickly improve productivity with proven solutions
EDG: Companies undertaking strategic growth, innovation, or internationalisation
Start with your business need, not the grant. Are you struggling with inventory, accounting, CRM, or manual workflows? The right solution should directly solve that.
Next, go to GoBusiness Gov Assist, click “View all solutions,” and filter by sector or solution type. You’ll see pre-approved packages with descriptions, vendors, and cost caps.
When shortlisting, ask:
- Does this match my company’s size and needs?
- Can it scale with me over the next year?
- Does the vendor offer training and support?
- Is everything in the package, or are there hidden costs?
Important: Only pre-approved packages from listed vendors are eligible. No customisations. Don’t make any payment or sign anything before your application is approved—doing so voids your claim.
Get formal quotes from 2–3 vendors. Make sure:
- The quote matches the PSG listing exactly
- The vendor is actually on the pre-approved list
- You’ve got no shared ownership/direct links with the vendor
Use the PSG to cover something proven, practical, and immediate. You’re not buying future potential—you’re funding a tool that works for you now.
The PSG application process takes about 6 weeks from the time you submit all required documents.
- That 6-week estimate assumes your application is complete and doesn’t need clarification.
- If your application gets flagged for missing info, the clock pauses until you respond.
- You can start the project before approval, but it’s risky—if rejected, you can’t claim anything.
- Claims are submitted after the solution is delivered, paid for, and used. Only one claim is allowed per approved application.
So if timing is tight, submit early and get your paperwork right the first time.
Yes, you can apply for both PSG and EDG as long as they’re for different things.
Here’s the deal:
- PSG covers off-the-shelf, pre-approved solutions (e.g. accounting software, POS systems).
- EDG supports bigger, custom projects (e.g. overseas expansion, process redesign, R&D).
You can’t double-dip. So if you’re using PSG to buy a CRM, you can’t claim EDG for consulting on the same CRM project.
What’s allowed:
- Apply for PSG to fund equipment or IT tools.
- Apply for EDG to fund business transformation, branding, or market entry projects—as long as they’re separate from your PSG scope.
Just make sure each grant has:
- A different objective
- A separate budget
- No overlapping activities or vendors
And remember, both grants have annual funding caps and require proper documentation, so plan your applications strategically.
If you're referring to using ERP systems under the PSG grant, then yes — NMT Accounting Solutions is a pre-approved ERP solution that is both IRAS and PEPPOL compliant.
Here's what to look for:
IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) Compliance
- For accounting/invoicing modules, ensure the system supports:
- IRAS e-Tax Guide requirements (e.g. audit trail, GST reporting)
- Compliance with IRAS' Accounting Software Register (ASR)
- Common ERP brands like ABSS, QuickBooks, Xero, and Financio typically meet this.
PEPPOL (InvoiceNow) Compliance
- This is for e-invoicing through Singapore’s InvoiceNow network.
- A PEPPOL-compliant ERP system lets you send/receive e-invoices directly with other businesses or government agencies.
- Look for vendors that are IMDA-accredited PEPPOL Access Point providers or integrate with one.
